In Southampton we have already built a number of specific systems for the publication of structured data directly from instruments and experiments. Work on BlogJects, instruments such as the Laser systems in the Frey groups in Chemistry and the ORC (Optoelectroncis Research Centre) in Southampton, which automatically blogs the results of measurements, as well as laboratory sensor instrumentation that are both continuously streamed and periodically blogged laid the groundwork for considering the automatic publication of the general set of tools in the lab. We have also explored the direct publication of structured data from data processing and analysis with the development of tools built within the Mantid framework for neutron scattering data processing ( that directly post structured data in the form of SASXML ( following the processing of raw small angle scattering data to one dimensional scattering patterns.
